Literature Text

it's something a
little more than
yearning: not
quite lust, but
filled with just
as much desire

etched into my
skin, deep in
my veins, struck
through my
feeble little
muscles, right
down to the
skeleton

a craving from
the bones, a
hunger that eats
itself up and churns
itself back out

i'm cold and brittle,
feeling the ache for your
warm fingers to wrap
around the dusty
bones of my wrists, your
hands to stretch through
and out of my eye
sockets

little crevices
and holes that
hide in my anatomy
now feel gaping wide;
as vulnerable
as the earth to
the sky:

engulfed in cold
absence, open to
the threat of the
asteroids that come
shooting out of
your mouth

craters
are
scars
on
bigger
scale

lightyears are
merely centimetres
when you drift
close and the
proximity is simply
too much to bear

i'm finding it hard to breathe

how can you
be afraid of
something that
you exist
entirely for?
